- mirroring

Mirroring is a choreographic principle through which we create and compose actions. Mirroring an action can be understood in its strict sense of duplicating or re-doing an action in the opposite/inverted space to the action that is mirrored. More than that, it makes us look for other ways of reflecting an action. It makes us look into an action, observe it, ask what it is made of, what does it do or make, in order find to create a second action, a response, possible continuation, a way of referring to the previous action, a way of thinking it or presenting it differently. As a result, sequences are created, successive actions that have a common centre/theme/element that bond them together. In “we began walking there we have been”, those have been a line, circle, dote, fingers as a shade for flashlight, in/out of space.
